Goodbye 2013 .... Bring it on 2014

Wow, I can't believe that it, 2013 is over

What a crazy year have I had!!?? Let's recap: Last year, started out rough because the NHL was still dealing with the lockout. Oh,  the horror:

Now, it's okay .. at least for a few more years!

It was my love of hockey that brought to what is happening to me now......bring an author!

That is still very hard for me to say, because It still feels so unreal!!

With the support of my family and friends, I wrote Melting Away The Ice (THE ICE SERIES)!! Then came: Breaking the Ice (The Ice series (Vol 2))

I still can't believe it.

With that brought the greatest partnership EVER! My dear sweet LP (aka Lindsay Paige). Where would I be without that girl!?

LP and ME!!!
Our partnership brought two full books: Breakaway (The Penalty Kill Trilogy) and Off the Ice (The Penalty Kill Trilogy). Of course, I can't forget our novella:Our First Christmas (The Penalty Kill Trilogy)

All of this has happened since JUNE!!

Now all I can say is:

BRING IT 2014!!!

COVER REVEAL: Breaking the Ice (Ice Series #2) AND Updated Cover Melting Away the Ice (Ice Series #1)

You asked for it and here it is!! The cover of Breaking the Ice (Ice Series #2)

Rachel Silver is independent and likes it that way. It hardly bothers her that she hasn’t even had a relationship in over a year. Her goals are firmly set on her career. That was until her love of hockey crosses paths with Max Crawford.

Even though Max Crawford has had a wild side, there was something about Rachel when he saw her for the first time. Maybe it was her smart mouth, or her sexy lips? Nonetheless, he wanted her.

Finally, Max is able to start a relationship with her, but will her stubborn attitude be the downfall of their relationship? Or could Max break the ice that holds her firm?

I love the original cover of Melting Away the Ice, but I needed something 'different'. Thanks to my amazing cover designer she came up with this new cover..........

PLEASE NOTE: this is will not be be available for purchase until Jan 2014.

Announcement of a New Series...

Since I started writing I get a crazy idea in my head and I jot it down on a post-it. (FYI: I love post-its!!!)

Anyway, this one idea kept creeping up and wouldn't leave me alone. So, I brought it to my publishers attention and they agreed for me to publish it.

It's a series that deal with female issues. By that I mean, typical issues that I've lived through and others that I know.

Before I go to far in depth let me tell you about book 1. The titles will be 'different' but that is the point, right?!

Book 1 will be called: I'm the Real Paige Crosby

I know its a mouthful, but there is a purpose for it...promise! The series will be called: I'm Real Series

Book 1 will deal with self-esteem issues. A small overview of the book is that Paige Crosby is overweight, and receives a big job opportunity. However, she doesn't think that she deserves it and hides in the shadows.

There is more to it, but that is just a quick note about it!

I do have a release date of January 21, 2014!!

I am very excited and I will keep you updated!!

UPDATES ...........

Well, I have been in my writing mode finishing Breaking the Ice (Ice Series #2). I didn't think that I would get it done on time but .......

It's all done and off to the editors!!!

Y'all know how much I hate commas, and I love run-ons! My poor editor!

Now, since that is done I can focus on Book 3 of the Penalty Kill Trilogy with Lindsay Paige. It's sad to see it end. I have fallen in love with Levi and Presley so much. On top of that, I love writing with LP!!

Maybe we will do more in the future.

Now I have made my list for my 2014 projects. It's a long list, but I have been working  a lot on all my WIPs. So I will keep you updated!

Dec 5: Off the Ice (The Penalty Kill Trilogy #2) (with Lindsay Paige)

Deb 6: Breaking the Ice (The Ice Series #2)

Dec 23: Our First Christmas (The Penalty Kill Novella) (with Lindsay Paige)

COVER REVEAL: The Edge of Springwood: Twisted Revenge by Jennifer Brown

Tragedy forced Jacob Barnes to step in at the age of 22, and raise his younger brother and sister. Years later, as the Barnes family is finally on the verge of recovery the past comes back to haunt them.
It's election time in Springwood, and Jacob is a candidate for Mayor. Having proved himself as a successful business man, Jacob feels he is ready to take on Springwood and tackle the city's many issues. Little does he know the extent of the issues  he is about to face.
When it becomes apparent someone is out to sabotage Jacob's campaign, Jacob begins to realize the past is far from behind him and his family. Two murders reveal dark secrets in the Barnes family, as they come to terms with a harsh reality.

Author Bio:

Jennifer Brown lives in Springfield Ohio, and has written since third grade. She was taught to read at an early age and fell in love with books, mainly mysteries. Her love of books grew, and in the summer before she started high school she wrote her longest story, halfway filling an old school notebook. In high school she started to enter writing contests, and in her junior and senior years joined the Herald staff becoming entertainment editor over her high school newspaper.

After graduating, with a few writing contest awards under her belt she attended college a year later, and was urged by her English instructor to join the college paper. She did, writing a few reviews of restaraunts and movies, as well as writing a review of her first Alanis Morissette concert. A few years later she was asked to take the position of entertainment editor.

At 37,  Jennifer has written several stories and has many more in store for readers.  When she is not writing she likes reading, working on computer graphics, editing photos, listening to music, and brainstorming for new ideas!

My Challenge

So, I have several friends that are very strict vegans. They never push their beliefs on me, but I've recently had a health scare.

Don't worry ... I'm fine !!! However, I need to change a bunch of things in my lifestyle.

I'm not the greatest person for that ....

But I LOVE a challenge .. So they challenge me to be vegetarian for the WHOLE month of November.

I usually go meat-free for Lent, but this time it will be a bit different.

So, I agreed.

NOW........I'm not going to be posting my weight or anything like that...........

However ... I will post weight loss (if any) and any cool recipes that I find

Now, I just have to start....

WHAT I AM READING: Faithful by Kelly Elliott

First and foremost in my life I am a BOOK NERD!

Thank goodness my Bailey Ardisone will be there with me.

Anyway ... enough of my rambling ...

Teaser Tuesday ...

Its Tuesday .. and you know what that means .....

Yep .. teaser time ..

So why not a little sneak peak from my WIP (Work In Progress). This one is for Nolan Long, who is my muse for the main character, Colton Cruise:

Chapter One

God, what a day. Thankfully, I can relax for a bit here, practically alone in the dark empty bar. The bartender is tending to her side of the place, getting ready for what is supposed to be a busy night and the reason I’m here. According to what I keep hearing, this place is going to explode with tons of people all waiting to hear this one band that plays here every so often. The last time I was here, I found the band, Shine, that pretty much got my career to where it’s at today.
When the owner, a business acquaintance, told me about this band, I had to come. After all, he played a part in me becoming the manager of Shine, a rock band that has had so much success. I’ve been looking for another group to launch and so here I am. Despite my crappy day so far, I grin and stand from my seat when I see the owner, Wills, coming my way.
“It’s good to see you again,” I greet, shaking his hand.
He nods and says, “It’s about time you’ve made your way back here, Colt. You’re going to love Twisted Misery.” We take a seat and I ask him to tell me a little more about them. “Besides the fact that they have a bunch of talent?” he chuckles. “They’re a young band; haven’t been playing together long, but you wouldn’t know it by watching them. So much energy too. The crowd loves them.”
“Well, I look forward to hearing them.”
“They will be a hit, just like last time, Colt. I -” Wills sentence gets cuts off suddenly as music begins.
I look around him, hearing a guitar dominate this place. At first, my eyes are glued to the slender fingers on the neck of the instrument. They move easily and fluently, but with clear intent. When a voice joins the guitar, my focus travels up the arm to a curtain of long black hair. The girl’s face is shielded by her hair as she seems to be looking down. Her voice in combination with the angry tune is haunting and captivating.
“Who’s that?” I ask without taking my eyes of her. I can’t even see her face, but with a voice like that and that petite body, she’s just as captivating as the song.
“That’s the lead guitarist in Twisted Misery. She’s just a piece of the talent though,” Wills answers.
Just a piece? It gets better than that? Damn. The girl finally lifts her head, eyes closed as her face shows all the emotions of the song. The rage clearly displayed as she sings and I realize I’m as lost in the music as she is. She owns the mood, the stage, the music. Somehow, she seems in control of what she’s doing, but at the same time, lost in the lyrics. She sings about being left behind, getting pissed at the world for it, and coming back for revenge.

Epic Fail BUT 12 days until Melting Away the Ice

*hangs head* Okay, I have so failed keeping up with posts here. I beg for your forgiveness and give me a second chance !!!

*on hands and knees* PLEASE!!

Are you still here? ............................. GOOD!

Okay so this is what happened in August.....

Lindsay Paige and I released Book 1 of the Penalty Kill Trilogy: Breakaway. We have remained in the top 50 since a couple days after the release! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

You can purchase it here:

Now, I am about 12 days away from Melting Away the Ice! *insert panic attack* I'm so nervous but my amazing family at Nevermore Press has been so helpful!

So, I thought about doing a PATRICK SHARP COUNTDOWN. If you are visiting for the first time, Patrick Sharp of the Chicago Blackhawks is the muse for Lucas Sharp, the main character of my book.

This means each day I will post picture of Patrick and a "small" teaser !!!

Here is today's:

*sigh* Oh he is so yummy!

Here is the teaser:

I watched the game, mainly because I promised Rachel, and she made me. She kept pointing out players, reasons for the penalties, and key points of the game. I mostly watched number eighty skate. Every time he was on the ice it was with determination and purpose. He was a natural on the ice. It was like he belonged there and nowhere else. We were so close that I could hear the skates on the ice, snow from the skates flying everywhere. I could hear the command of the teammates yelling at each other and I watched them flow through each play. The air became thick with sweat, purpose, and the desire to win. The crowd was on their feet yelling at bad calls, or cheering for good ones, and as the seconds ticked by they shouted for the win.

Monday ... Mary

Okay, so I haven't been keeping up with the post on this site. I know I need to so I came up with this new concept. Well, I don't know how 'new' it is, but let's try and see.

Monday ... Mary

Sounds cool, right?  Right! Okay, so what does it mean? It means that on Monday I will update you on what is happening in my Author/Book Nerd Life. AND....AND tell you what is to come.

Book 1: Melting Away the Ice is still schedule to come out on Sept. 13.....*insert panic attack* I am so nervous about this. However, I think once everyone reads about Lucas Sharp and falls in love with him as much as I have, it'll be okay. The cover is begin updated and the edit is still a work in progress, but I know once my nerves settle it will be great!

I am currently working on 2 different projects. One is TOP SECRET (which just means I will have to tell you later) and the second is, well, it's book 2 of Melting Away the Ice. Both are going well, but still in the early stages. I will keep you updated.

Then, there is my project with the GREAT LINDSAY PAIGE (who is truly the greatest person!) My LP has talent oozing off of her. Our Book 1: Breakaway is coming out Aug. 15 *insert a bigger panic attack* That's right around the corner. But, I can't wait for everyone to meet Levi and Presley. Seriously, this is going to be a great book.

On top of that we have begun Book 2 of that series. We are breezing right through it too. LOVING IT!!

Even though I am nervous about these projects, I am also equally happy! I like having a lot on my plate. I like to stay busy all the time and I hate to sleep.

I will keep you updated!! PROMISE!!

3) Lindsay and I are beginning to work on Book 2. We don't have a title of anymore information than the fact is, we are just starting.
